What’s meiotic recombination in layperson’s terms?
Meiosis is the specialized cell division that gametes (egg or sperm) undergo to leave them with half the number of chromosomes of a normal cell (Thus when they combine, they have the full number of chromosomes). Recombination happens during this process to kind of mix up the genes between the chromosomes.
